Carpet Freshener

Carpet Freshener using Young Living Purification Essential Oil

I love my dog. He turned 10 this year and is still as sweet and puppy-like as when I first adopted him at nine months old. But he can be very stinky. VERY stinky. All 60 pounds of him can be VERY stinky. Once a week when I vacuum I sprinkle the carpets and his doggie bed with this carpet freshener. The combination of baking soda and Young Living’s Purification essential oil absorbs the odors and my house smells fresh and clean.

You have a lot of options in the stores but when you look at the back of the container how many ingredients are you able to pronounce?  Your fur-babies and children play on your floor and inevitably lick the carpet or put their hands in their mouths after crawling on the floor. I want to know that they aren’t putting anything toxic in their systems.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cups (12 oz) baking soda (I love this container with the built-in shaker. I refill it from the huge bag of baking soda I buy at CostCo)
  • 10-15 drops of Young Living Purification Essential Oil (or any fresh scent you prefer)

PREPARATION

Fill a container that has a lid  with baking soda and add 10-15 drops of Young Living Purification Essential Oil. Tighten lid and vigorously shake so that the essential oil evenly coats the baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda mix on your carpet (or pet bed) and let the mixture sit for 15-20 minutes before vacuuming.
